festivum - do they eat plants, or not?

Do festives eat plants? I've read several online profiles - some say they are slightly salad-happy, others say that they're fine with plants...? which is it?

I've never had problems with them in my planted tanks, occassionally they'll tug on plants and uproot them like all medium sized cichlids do. To the best of my knowledge the only cichlids out there that will absolutely never mess with plants are discus and angelfish. But you don't have to worry about festivum totally trashing your tank overnight.

I agree. The ones I've had have never really eaten any plants. They might take a bite of some smaller bushy tasty-looking plants like anacharis or something. I've never even really noticed them digging or uprooting plants all that much either; they're an excellent choice for the planted aquarium.

They certainly don't, I've seen them kept in tanks used to grow and sell plants at stores.
