Hey guys, just brought home a 3 inch Festivum and realized it has only one of the really long pectoral fins. There is no sign of injury or anything it’s just not there. Really nice fish, will it grow back? Don’t really want to take it back but.....what are your opinions? Thanks guys

It looks like a birth defect. You can see from the shape of the chest that something is off. It was probably never there to begin with.

+1 to defect, or possibly damaged as a fry and never developed further. Now and then you can get a few like that out of a spawn. In such a case I wouldn't expect it to change much.

I agree doesn’t appear to be an injury. He's not hiding and swimming good and appears otherwise perfectly healthy. Will this effect the fish at all or is it more cosmetic? I’m kind of torn whether or not to exchange it, I’m leaning towards it not being a big deal but wanted a healthy fish you know. Thanks

It’s merely cosmetic. It shouldn’t effect its health.

I have had fish born without a pectoral or pelvic fin and they live normal, happy, healthy lives. If you don't mind a fish that's a bit unique, I would encourage you to keep him.
