I measured this male out of water to be 9". That is the biggest they get and females get about 6-7". They are fast growers too.
Breeding is easy, but males will kill their mates, so you have separate them eventually.
They have the typical water requirements of most CA cichlids and are quite hardy. They love a meat and veggie based diet. Mine is extremely aggressive and almost killed bigger fish I have like a large syn male. I got him from Jeff Rapps.
That is what mine is like. He will single out and kill one fish at a time. No jaw locking or gill flaring. Just goes for the belly to kill. He has literally bitten swordtail's heads off and eaten them. My cyano was similar, but not as brutal. Is this a typical herichthys thing?
