i was wondering if anyone could tell me why sometimes after they eat they swim side ways and rub agaist the plants or wood or rocks????? and sometimes they just do it random but i see it more after i feed them...is this common or ???? my smaller ones dont do it(3")... and either do my shoal of babies.....any feedback would be nice thanks:D

what do you feed them usually?

This could be that they are just itchy or could be caused by infections. any sign of sickness? white dot and stuff?
my smaller rhom used to do this by rubbing its belly against driftwood but I think he was just itchy and needs a good scratch. as long as they behave normal and appears to be healthy I wouldn't worry too much. just keep a close eye on them see if there's any signs of sickness.

They sometimes do it because when they shred the food small pieces get stuck in their gills and they do it to get the pieces out.

I think that kind of behavior (flashing as said) is caused by the water conditions, not the food, check your water params

flashing is nothing to worry about if they are just doing it occasionally, especially after meals. if you notice that they are flashing a lot more than normal, it could be a sign of external parasites or gill flukes.

i feed them feeders now and then when i have to but other than that its shrimp and krill, cod once a week:D my temps good PH is good nitrates are good tooo... i usuallly do 50% water change a week......... i just notice after i sold one my big guys they been more shy and skitish:nilly:...... but they do love to eat still....
i also dont see no white spots on them they are really nice and RED and healthy looking i think..... but i will keep a good eye out .......
Thanks for all the info guys LOVE this forum!!!:headbang2
