ok so ive just broken a tank lol yes it was stupid but i was moving my fishroom around and i moved a 36x18x18 and the bottom piece broken lol its cracked in 5 different places around one end now i have 4 pieces of glass spare but their around 10inch by 20 inch max so i was thinking of siliconing them over the braked piece would this work? or possibly covering the cracks on the bottom piece with silicone a really thick layer?

thanks all

i dont think that will work you would have to replace that whole bottom pane of glass once its broken its done

Man your koking lol i think i would just get rid of it as i got it second hand for like $30 so pretty pointless but thanks mate for the reply. The tank had been fixed before i bought it with black silicone and its holded fine for months. Thats why i thought a really thick layer may sort it but thanks.

it will work, but it's not a good way to go. I wouldn't do it. again... and mine was just a 10 gallon. you'd have more weight/pressure therefore a greater chance of seepage, which it what mine did. I used a LOT of sillycon too. it would probably be easier if uncured silicon would adhere to cured.
you're much better off taking apart the tank and resealing the whole thing.

Thanks for the reply i have a about 10 massive tubes from one of my builds a while ago so i may as well give it a shot but im getting 2 4footers tomorow so i supose if things go rong it wont be a big dissaster. thanks

ive had an idea now im thinking i can make it into a terrarium with say 1 quarter water and plants landscaped with say a water fall.

I could keep some kind of lizard or even some kind of amphibean then some small minnoes are small fish in water. What u think?

thanks

That will not work. definitely not long term.
