so i found a nice little suprise this morning, my flowerhorns spawned! looks like about half of the eggs are fertilized, with a yellowish brownish tint, and the other half are white. how long should i wait to remove the eggs and put them in their own tank?

don't remove the eggs, let the parents raise them. Hopefully the parents clean up the dead eggs before they fungus over and kill your good eggs. Post shots of the parents. If you have nice fish I'll drive up there any buy some fry off of you.

Congrats. Keep us updated.

never remove the eggs. 24 hours after the female and the male stay together, You have to separate the male to another tank and let the female raise the eggs

pics of parents ASAP!

ill try to get a couple up when i get home.

i havent taken the male out of the tank yet, and i really dont have plans to. the parents are super protective of the nest, and as soon as the fry get a little bigger ill pull the fry out, and maybe the mom if you guys think that would be best. ive never id'd the parents either so im unsure of their type. maybe someone can help me out with that to.

my flowerhorns have since had a successful spawn, i have about 30-40 little guys. anybody from MFK whose willing to pickup is more than welcome to their pick for free. theyll be ready in a couple weeks! send me a PM if anybody is interested.
