fh and plants

I have a juvy fh that I picked up a few weeks ago.

He is a sick fish . Only non piranha I have.

Anyways he is about 2 inches and in a 20g long right now. I am turning the 20 long (cycling his 30g) into a rcs shrimp breeding project so I received a bunch of java moss the other day and added it to the tank. After adding the moss he started showing his dark bars pretty frequently.

Do flowerhorns not like plants??

Other than that, fish is solo, weekly wcs, 0 ammonion 0 nitrite, ~.05 nitrate, fed hikari pellets, occasional blood worms.

light goes on for two or three hours a day.

I even play with him a couple times a day!!

If hes acting the way you're used to him being, im sure hes fine! Probably just a reaction from the plant addition. You're going to notice when he gets bigger how his personality is nothing like the Piranhas. He might even turn into you're "favorite" fish!!! Congrats on the new guy and good luck!!

plants will not last with a flowerohrn, IMO. mine are in with plastic plants and they constantly rip them out of the gravel. there are always floating plants when i get home from work.
