Hello MFKs,

I'm kinda stumped on what might be going on with my flowerhorn. My SRD was shipped to me August 5th from Thailand brought through Julie. Since I've had him his behavior and personality has been exactly the same. He is super active and gets crazy whenever I come around, which is wonderful. The bloat doesn't look like it's getting worse but I'm worried about it and treated him with API General Cure. I've been giving him epsom baths and mixing his Grand Sumo with MetroPlus. His poop has not been white since I've had him and his appetite hasn't changed either.
What're all your opinions? Thanks.
Travis.

Hello,

I Would try to use blackwater, blackwater reduces the stress for the fish a lot. Most fish diseases are caused because of too much stress for the fish, maybe the light is too bright for him and he feels insecure can he hide anywhere? You could use sera blackwater aquatan or make some blackwater yourself with leaves and stuff.

Good luck

I don't see the problem, he just looks like a chunky monkey to me. If he eats fine, and passes solid waste fine, I wouldn't be treating with meds. Maybe just add a little extra fiber in his food, NLS Algaemax would be a good option.

I agree. SRD are known for big solid big fat fish. Your fish does not have bloat. Many of the PN blood line look much worse than that too and it's completely normal for them

It doesn't really look like bloat, maybe just on the heavy side. Reduced food for the next few weeks if you are concerned. If the scales look like they are raising or pinecone shape then i would take immediate measures.

I might just slow down the feeding in an attempt to see if he's just gaining weight but if I suspect dropsy within the next couple of weeks then oh well :(

no bloat, some fish just have big stomach gene. my kml is one of them, even after his weekly fast he looks fat lol.
