So i've done a bit of reading about breeding FHs and was thinking that once I get my guy switched over to the 75 all by himself I might wanna give it a shot. He's started digging little beds and I kinda want to see what I can do. This question isn't really about the methods of breeding but more of what can I breed it with most successfully. From what people on this subforum told me he is a pearly kamfa mix, don't know if that makes a difference.

So what could I potentially breed this guy with down the road? I know blood parrots are an option but i'd rather avoid that for him (no fat chicks) - and I saw a thread that a guy had a FH/Jag mix that I thought was freakin awesome, is it any different getting them to breed with other varieties of cichlids than with another flowerhorn? Thanks for any and all advice, I don't plan on selling any of these guys publically I just figured it could just be a nice little project and my buddy really wants a flowerhorn after seeing mine so it could be a win win.

thanks for the response, not worried about how long it'll take just thought at some point it could be interesting :P crazy that they can breed with so many species

those are both cool but they look kinda rare and i've never seen em at my fish stores

hey mate, glad to hear your a fan of hybrids!

a few suggestions that i would have is

a veija zonatum?

or a king kong parrot?
crossed kamfa with a king kong would look awsome in my opinion, they are not as stocky as blood parrots, and have a larger kok.

or even you could try a salvini, they are a smaller centeral american cichlid that has an intense yellow colour, it is something different tht you could breed you flowerhorn with you could end up with a shorter bodied kamfa, but not compacted like shortbodys, just a smaller flowerhorn in lenght, that could be very attractive to some as they would in effect require less space.

thanks for the response scott, salvinis were a type I was definitely considering, a shorter bodied hybrid could end up really cool, as I was considering a festae or jag mix that would get absolutely monstrous haha

hey bud i just checked the website of a fish store back near home and they have small breidhori's for sale, might have to check em out, could be a close call between those and salvini
