I just got the little guy in the mail. Box was a little damp and when I opened it a lot of the water had been drained out. He was still breathing but look stressed. I didn't even bother trying to acclimate it slowly because the water he was in was freezing cold. I dropped him right into the 30G I had waiting for it. At first he just lay on his side so I netted him and moved him a bit to get some water moving through his gills. Now he's sitting normally but just sitting and still breathing heavy. His color isn't washed out which I guess is a good sign. I've added salt and upped the temp and I'm gonna hook up the air stone now. Do you guys think he'll be ok??

how long has it been?
from the way it sounds, he seems to be acclimating pretty well for something in that situation, so i'd say yes.

It's been 3 hrs in the tank now and he seems to be doing ok. A little fin rot from the stress but who can blame him? He swims and sits and is no longer tilting. I'll take pics when he's better acclimated. He's doing pretty good considering he barely had water left in that bag lol.

yeah fh are pretty resilient for the most part, im glad this guys doing well for you. pics are nice, ill be waiting.

Run as much air as you can through the tank to help. Glad it seems to be going ok, fingers crossed for the little guy.

Glad his kinda doing well keep us updated on his condition.

Thanks guys. He's swimming around then sitting then swimming. I guess he's still adjusting.

Add a bubbler and keep the lights off for a couple of hours. He should be fine. Is your tank already cycled? If he's swimming around he should be fine.

Yeah I seeded the tank with gravel (all the gravel in this tank is from an established tank), also the filter is from an established tank, and the half the water is from an established tank. I also had a jack dempsey in their for 2 days to make sure it was fine and I test its ammonia, nitrates, nitrates twice a day to make sure.
