fh eating snails?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
mine will keep knocking them over until they die. He never ate them though

I got them by accident. Eating snails is like my RTC's "9-5". Every night he hunts endlessly only to retrate and sleep off the day in his cave come sunrise. He is in a 100 gal now with some neon tetras and a black gost knife fish. He has never eaten another fish but the snails get hunted every night.

As for advice, I have a RTC and he has a stomach made to puke wrong objects. My snails are very small also. I dont know what a FH is.....

FH is a flower horn lol....Thats a whole different fish from the RTC, the RTC's stomachs are 2nd to none.

Heres a link from da guggle...http://www.oscarfishlover.com/oscar...fish/115857-oscars-a-flowerhorn-eating-snails

parasites would be the only threat unless the snail in toxic

I used to have a big (watermelon sized) blood parrot that would swallow big ramshorn snails whole. idk if this is good for them but my fish never had any ill effects, i think midas do that In the wild.
Ive had midas babies tear the snails out of the shells but never eat them shell and all like my big parrot did.
I've heard that cichlids keep animal grit from insect shells etc in their gallbladder in order to grind up food, so that a diet without hard shelled insects occasionally (eg crickets) is unhealthy for them.
I wouldn't feed him snails all the time, but i doubt it will kill the fish.

I've recently introduced snails to my fh and he eats them like crazy is it healthy for him to eat it
My flowerhorn just loves his snail snacks...shell and all. I raise them in a smaller tank I have and on occasion feed him one or two. They are small so I'm sure they don't harm him none and actually put a smile on his face!
