whats the best food to bring out a flowerhorns colors? I just got a little 1 inch guy today already has some nice colors. Just wondering wat to feed it so it can keep its color.

I had good luck with shrimp, omega1 pellets, and smelt.

There are many good pellet types out there. Some that have already be mentioned many more. You just want to get yourself a food that has a protein base around 40-46% any higher and it can be hard on the fish's digestive system. Remember though while pellets should be a staple of the diet. Feed a verity to your fish such as pellets, shrimp and other foods that it will take. This will ensure that you get the best all around results out of your new fish. I could name off some more food names for you but the point is really about what I already stated. Besides you want to try things out. I am always looking for new foods even though I know of many good ones. It is all about verity. Good luck with your new fish would like to see a pic of it some time post it up.:D

Thanks for the replies guys. Right now hes eating krill (dry), peices of silversides, blood worms, beefheart ( not too much tho). Thats about it. I tried feeding him some hikari gold cichlid pellets but he just grabs them then spits them out. Ill try to get a pic of him up. Its a cool fish with a great personality.

Thanks bastered fish. Do u think the foods that im feeding it right now are good enough? It mostly eats krill tho. His favorite i think.

vairety is the key.. and try to stay away form hormone infested food.. or tricks that maybe harmful to your fish's life line..again .. VARIETY is the KEY!!
