Fh growth rate ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my flowerhorn is about 2.5 yrs and 12" maybe 13" head to tail.

ive only owned him for 5 months, but passed owner said he purchased him from around 2".

he very well could have grown faster, but was only fed feeders and tetra sticks prior to me.

My FH grew at least 1/2" a month, sometimes more. Of course she is spoiled with the best foods, and plenty of it. Water is changed often as well.

ok what the best food for them? I have 2 oscars free to a good home but cant seem to find any takers ill pay shiping lol

there is no one best food. a good varied diet, including different frozen or live shrimps, worms, with a good staple pellet, as with any fish. you can use any of the better commercial foods like hikari and have great results. or even spend some $$ and buy specialty FH foods if it made you happy :)

when your FH starts getting quite large and beefy, try ordering from kensfish.com. he has a 7.5mm cichlid pellet that is bigger than any of the commercial foods available. perfect for large fish. my FH seems to be doing well on this exclusively, since he's a picky eater.
