I was wondering what other members fh growth rate was like?

Mine is about 2" shorter and half as thick as my buddies from same batch@8 months. Mine is only 6.5". Both kamfa. Both in 60g. Mine did have hex a month or so. Just curious if this is normal growth. My old rd seemed to grow bigger faster.

Very hard to say how & why some grow faster than others. Having bred these guys for years, I can say that the dominant few in each batch tend to grow at the fastest rate. They tend to be the ones that eat the most and pick on the weaker/smaller ones. This may lead to the prevention of head growth on the smaller ones (oftentimes some of the better looking ones).

Tank size, food & water conditions do play a role once they are separated from the batch. Warmer water makes them more active...leading them to eat more...hence faster growth rate. Can't say what food will increase growth rate but quality food will help with appearance & health. Plenty of room to grow couldn't hurt either as far as tank size.

I agree with this^. I always try to separate any of the larger more dominant fry so I don't end up with the smaller fry not being able to show their potential.

Also, growth in each individual can be dependent on many different variables, such as tank size, water params, etc. So there isn't really a standard growth to expect, especially with all the different strains that are being produced.

Thanks for the replies. Good advice and sound reasoning from all. I guess I'm just concerned that he's growing at the right rate. I'm going for the fh longevity award with this guy, so I don't power feed him or anything(Thai minerals or fh specific feed). But I don't want him malnourished either or under weight. Thus the concern growth wise vs my buddies.

I guess I should be asking if anyone here has chonburimon white tiger(the strain). If so how big is it? And how old? I've google the strain but haven't found any follow ups. If you want to share other strains, size, age and pic that would be cool. Some info on old pieces would be awesome too.

I follow good fish maintenance.Temp is at 80. Primarily fed massivore, NLS+, saki hikari, and market shrimp. He's solo bolo in a 60.
