i just got a flowerhorn
he looks very skinny
his stomach goes in.
i tryed to feed him all the diffrent pellets and cichlid sticks i could find
orginally i was sopose to get a jag, i asked them to feed the jag, it wouldent eat the feeders or pellets it was given, and the flower horn got the feeders it was given.(it was in a tank beside the jag)
should i try feeders?
i think it was kept on a feeder only diet
i had him for about 3 days

fh can go up to a month or more without eating. Feeders are not a good diet, they have no color enchancers, and can carry disease. I would starve him untill he accepts the pellet.

I would start off with offering him anything he will take other than feeders. I would suggest shrimp(raw),blood worms, earthworms(Walmart has them), or brine shrimp. If he still takes NONE of these above, just offer him food at once a day until he takes it.

Just offer him a little bit, and if he takes it it's a good sign. Increase the amount slowly every other day and get him back on track. Then when he's 100% back, starve him for two days and slowly offer him pellets. These methods haven't failed me once regardless of how skinny they are. As long as they aren't sick and you keep good water parameters, he will adjust to your tank and accept it just might take a while. Just be patient and give him a chance to recover! =)

Hope this helps,
JP

i got him some night cralwers. i put one in, he was chewing it for about 15 mins and then he ended up eating half of the worm, other half is still lieing on the floor
