at this size it looks like a trimac but not pure. Wait until he’s a bit bigger to be for sure though

......... if you have to ask, best to consider it a cross. You can't always tell just by eye balling a fish, no matter the size. If you want pure anything, I would recommend buying from a reputable source with provenance back to the wild.

Thanks for the response. Do trimacs grow the Red in their throat from young or does this develop over time?

my fish has a faint red that appears and disappears somewhere around the gills..

As most said if you have to ask then more then likely FH true trimacs in some areas are hard to find and a person selling that fish would advertise it as a trimac if it was true

Mine is hitting about 8” and the red is just starting to come in.
