I'm still working on upgrading the tank and right now i'm leaning toward a 110gal for my Flowerhorn. This tank will give me the most options and hopefully I won't have to worry about needing to upgrade the tank again in the future. With that sort of space I got thinking about a tank mate and the possibility of a breeding pair.
Thoughts on a pairing? I had orginally thought of just finding a female FH, but has anyone mated a FH and a Red Severum with pics of the offspring? Any others I could consider or is this not even worth thinking about?

severums can hybridize

Any pics of a Severum x Flowerhorn?

They can breed with most if not all Central American cichlids can breed with Flowerhorn. You could breed a FH with any Parachromis, Red Bay Snook, any Amphilophis, Firemouth, any Cryptoheros, archocentrus, Herichthys, Nandopsis, vieja, theraps, ect. :)

Alright, I have tracked down another tank. Looks like it is a 150T. Footprint is 48" x 24". I believe it is 31" tall. I know i am increasing the water capacity of the tank substantially, and doubling the footprint, but is this going to be acceptable for my FH and a Mate?

A breeding pair in a 150? That's more than enough space, a single flowerhorn only gets a little over a foot. Though more space doesn't necessarily increase the chances of them breeding. Some just aren't compatible.

Yeah, that was my concern. I am thinking about pairing him with a MiDevil, Texas, or Trimac.
Typically when i had breeding pairs of Oscars I would get several and look for them to pair up on their own and keep the best pairing. Would my best option be to buy several Cichlids and wait for a natural pair to develope? The main concern here is that the FH is already around 6" long.
Because of this I'd also thought of speaking to Rapps again about a guaranteed female fish in the 4-5" range.
I know people had suggested Red Bay Snook to cross the FH with, but I'm a little concerned about the 150's size for that since it is a 150Tall and not a 150Long.

Well, the 150 is a go. I pick it up tomorrow! Super excited!
