Hi all, I am doing a plywood tank. Week ago I used poly resin to do all the fibreglass matting and it dried in minutes..

Next day I sand it a bit and apply David's fastglas resin with the hardener that come with poly resin..

Now week later I got tacky coat of resin and it melts when I heat gun it.. Am I screwed? What is the solution?

I had this situation once when working with carbon fiber and that is because i mixed the wrong proportions of resin vs hardener. Not sure if its the same as yours though, hope it helps. Anyway, it will still dry up just that it takes a lot lot longer to do it.

I was wondering if you got this worked out and what ya ended up have to do?

How your build coming along?

I'm curious to know if the fastglass you used for your second layer was maybe epoxy based? You wouldn't be able to use a catalyst for polyester based resins with an epoxy one. Epoxy resins have it's own catalyst. Also, I should mention that polyester resins are not suitable for long term underwater submersion or storage. Your final layer needs to be epoxy based or something suitable for water storage and fish safe. I used Zophar on mines, monster peacock used a rubberized type of sealer. Go check out his build if interested. Hope it works out for you buddy :)
