I picked up two awesome female freddies from Jeff at TUIC and put them in the tank with my smaller male today. He immediately got after them and nipped scales, so I isolated him to let the females settle in. Now the two females are jaw locking! Should I let this play out tonight or should I separate all of them? I'd like to at least have a pair, be it male/female or two females but I don't want any of the fish harmed permanently. Input please!

id give it a day to see what happens, maybe change up the tank and let everyone pick new comfort zones

either way good luck

I actually did change it today when the little male was being aggressive. I made some more hiding places and moved everything around. No dice. My fear of letting them go is that they are massively trashed in the morning from fighting.

yea its scary how much damage can get done in 1 day. my tank is next to my bed and ive been splashed a few times recently since my jags laid eggs. i have a few other fish in there with them and i hear them all night fighting. This breeding wasnt planned at all, and i havent been able to set up a new tank for my other guys. luckily they are good at hiding in my caves/rocks

Tank size? I put an Argentea in my 300 for about 10 hours and my Jd proceeded to shred every fin on the fish .... And the Jd is about 2-3" smaller. If it looks like its not going to work, I'd separate sooner than later and get a new gameplan in order.

That's my worst fear. These Rio Danto freddies are absolutely stunning and I don't want them ruined, but I also know that introductions can be dramatic for the first day or so until everyone settles in. They are in 120.

Its all about timing. I put a jag in my grammodes tank and they ripped him a new one. I waited and added a geo and they sarted to settle down. Now i have a 3 inch devil parrot hybrid and another 2 inch fish with them and they are fine. I would leave it be for the night and see what your working with in the morn

I reintroduced the smaller male last night and now they are acting like best friends...interesting. I guess a time out worked.
