Got all my cichla moved over into the new 350 and everything has been going good for about a week. Just before bed last night I got up close and took a look and it appears as though most of them have a slight case of ick coming on
. Tank has been running at 86-87 since day 1 and I dosed with salt just out of precaution 3 days ago. Glad I did, maybe I actually treated for it before it really took off without knowing. But given that this tank has been running at 87 forever and they still have it, im concerned I might have one of the heat resistant strains. I went ahead and bumped the temp up to about 89-90 and gonna let it run. Oxygen wont be a problem this thing churns plenty of agitation with the 2 big overflows and 2400gph returns churning the surface.
I suspect it came in on the Pleco I recently introduced, but he shows no signs of it. Only the Cichla and the Oscar seem to have it. The pike, firemouth, and pleco look to be clear. Ick is the scourge of the earth IMHO.
Edit= just realized I posted this in the media lounge instead of reg. cichla forum. oops
