The story:
I found someone that was selling a Xanthic Jag. When I first got it, it was in a bad way, (underfed, fins ripped and tatty, also she wouldn't hold them up. Her eyes were all white and cloudy. She has black marks all over her body, some of her scales were missing and it looked like she had a mucus that was coming off of her body, she also wasn't eating,) but I got it back up to health and got it sexed on here as a 'she'

After finding out that it was a 'she', and with her being fairly unusual I want to try and breed her to see what her babies come out like and also to keep some and grow them on and have them for myself. So I found another Jag which I believe to be male, (also sexed on here as a male,)

When I fisrt put the male in with her I know it's her tank, and with him being another big fish she showed what i think was aggression, flaring her gills, wiggling her body next to his and also biting and chasing him. There were ripped fins and scales missing from him and for the first couple of days she had him hid in the top corner of the tank by the power head

After a couple of days she gave in and stopped beating him up. now he has one end of the tank and she has the other. if she wants to go on his side of the tank he just moves out the way but if he wants to go on her side of the tank it's 50/50 whether she'll ignore him and just let him come over or whether she'll swim at him, (no flared gills,) not bite..but push him with an open mouth. When I turn the lights out at night time everytime she does the flaring of the gills and will hound the male round the tank. I'm not sure whether this is aggression as it's not like when I first put him in. there is the occasional nip from her but nothing that causes damage. Also since I got her back up to health she'll hover above the boulder that I've got in the tank, swimming forward with her tail but swimming back with her side fins, (if that makes sense.)

So my question to you fish guys is..Does it look like these are going to breed or is she annoyed that she's got to share her tank with another Jag?

Oy! first of all i wanna say GOOD JOB on restoring that jag to health!!!
she looks so beautiful now than the 1st day u got her.

about what theyre doing, i think theyre fighting FOR NOW... i think ur male wants to make the female submissive to him but from the picture, it looks like that ur female is bigger than the male so it myt take the male some time to make the female submit to him. As long as the male is'nt backing up, u have a nice chance that they'll pair up.

Good luck bro and once again, nice job on the female jag!
