My 12" silver is tearing the fins on my 16" silver they are in a 396 gallon tank, the surface area is 7' x 3' or 21 sq ft. The bigger one kinda picked at the smaller one when i first introduced them but know (2 months later) the tables have turned. Is my best bet to get rid of both of them and start over with a group of baby silvers or is this normal and it will get better soon?

Aro comms are very difficult and often fail. You may have a better chance starting with all small aro's, at least 6 or 7 to lower aggression. There are many things that can effect your aro moods, water quality, diet, and temp are very important. My aros start to get jumpy when to the water slides a bit, I do three 35% changes a week and it helps, and never feed feeders. Adding black water can help calm aro's too. Good Luck.

put in another couple of good sized ones. should do the trick.

yeah dont get rid of them. i have my pair together in a 400gal and there doin great. its not impossible but does usually fail often. what i did when i saw agression from my pair was just divide the tank for a few days. remove the divider n see how they do. mine only showed agression for about 1 or 2 weeks out of the year they've been together. 1 is about 18" now and the other is a lil over 2ft. i started them together last year at about 6" and 16"

:iagree: I find it hard to just give up....I mean, I treat my fish like they are my kids. I could'nt just send them up for adoption!
