but being "secondary" freshwater fish...they can tolerate up to full marine..
people have said to keep them mild brackish for optimal health...

but what evidence is there that this fish can not be successfully maintained in freshwater?

i mean the fish is found in freshwater...from what i have been reading...

anyone have personal experience???

Actually its been some what proven that they thrive in low brackish as opposed to full freshwater... if you check out The Puffer Forum you'll see there are people who have tested this theory and shown that F8's are do infinitely better under the right conditions...

Oh and the only reason i think they say they are fresh water fish is because thats probably where they catch them, but doesn't mean that they live out their lives in those environments... just look at GSP's for example... always sold as F/W fish (at least in HK) yet, as they get older, they move to almost full marine conditions...
