In the next month I will be upgradeing to a 300 gallon tank. My Pacu's need it badly. Can anyone recommend the filtration I should use. I currently have a 120 gallon with a Fluval and a cascade style. I am a rookie at fish care and the more I read on filtration the more confused I get. I am open to all suggestions.

im no expert myself but i am currently using a sunsun uv 2000ltr ext which i am planning on running a 225g indoor pond so i reckon something like that would be ideal for you, i hope this helps a bit 
Since you are new to filtration, I wouldn't suggest a sump. You couldn't probably do a Fluval FX5 and keep the current Fluval you have on there. I am also a fan of the Rena Xp3/Xp4.
