Filament Barbs taking this Vday thing pretty seriously....

I have a group of Filament Barbs in my 500 (hugely underrated dither BTW). 4 males and a female ranging from 5 to 8 inches... They spawn from time to time in there but usually its early in the am after a water change... But i caught them doing some pre spawning stuff this afternoon... its pretty cool so i figured i would share.

I know there is a lot going on in the video, but once you spot the female (the fat one) follow her like... the males do...lol

Nice tank,I agree, underrated as a fast tough dither.sometimes not easy to find them in stores.I have 4 now, I should add a few more

100% agree dont get huge but get big enough not to be eaten by most. I just added another female, she is smaller and i think my ATF tagged her because she isnt adjusting well...
 
I'm a fan of filaments as well unfortunately my rays took them all out. Beautiful though.

Thats my fear... when i set the tank up i assumed a lot of stuff would wind up ray chow and may as the blacks get bigger, but the filas may get rescued if chowing begins in earnest.
 
very cool video and an awesome tank set up!! How long did it take for the filament barbs to get full size? what do you fed them? mine has stopped at like 3-4" for like 3 months,, in a 55 gal tank.. thanks for any input.. Larry

the biggest one I bought as an adult. the others are 6 or so inches and it took about a year. I feed them massivore and also a lot of veggies. Good luck. and great fish
