Ok, So i have a 65 gallon saltwater tank (36"L x 18"W x 24"T) thats been cycling for a month.

I had an Octopus in there but didn't know they shed their skin and when they do they can't move and the crabs in the tank figured that out and they had octopus for dinner.

So now I have an empty 65 gallon tank with maybe 20 pounds of rock in there and one of the rocks is live. So the other rocks are quickly becoming live rock. they are turning purple and green.

The rock pile is only about 8 inches tall but I want to make a wall of live rock.

I bought a Miniatus Grouper Because I just love them. I also bought a Red Gulf Toadfish. But they are both back at the LFS for a day on hold.

What else can i put in the tank and can I build a wall of Live rock and still have enough space in the tank for fish.

I want an eel too.

Thanks

i don't think you can fit many more fish in there, considering the miniatus. the live rock wall is an ok idea though. you can do some inverts and coral, but if you chose to, your filtration would have to be pretty powerful.

:iagree: That tank is pretty full with what's in there.

You figure not only do you have a Opsanus beta, which will get to about a foot, but a Miniatus Grouper will get close to 18" and should be in atleast 150 gallons. That system is going to be under a lot of stress with the bio-load those two fish will be producing.

With them both being in a small tank, the Miniatus may get very nasty towards that Toadfish, so I would focus on putting more live rock in there...that way you posatively affect the tank in two ways:

1. You will add more biological filtration to the tank, so that will help with the heavy bio-load of these fish.

2. You will create visual barriers and more hidespots to cut down on any aggression that might show between the two if they were competing with limited territory.

Just my two cents...I hope this helps.

actually i skipped out on the toadfish.....too boring.

So all i have is the miniatus.

I want an angel,
Maybe a few clowns,
and maybe 1 other fish.
and one eel.

I have 2 Magnum 350 on the tank and a refugiam(SP)

so the tank should be fine. by the time the miniatus gets 12+ i will pu him in my 125.

I'd still leave it at just the grouper. He'll be rather large and testy so.... you'd have to add larger fish and you would likely have issues with your bio-load. Sorry, I don't know a lot about the monsters you might be able to keep one of the triggers with him but, they are also pretty agresive so...
anyway sorry to be of such a little assistance
