hi everybody i have a small 1 and a half foot tank not sure how name litres/galleons but this tank is currently cycling and im going to make a small planted nano tank

this afternoon i touched the water with my pinky to see if the water is warm and it was quite cold so i put my hand in to touch the heater to see if it was on and it was...but thats not it

i had eaten a packet of chips shortly before and now theres a small film of oil, ive tried water change but that wont suck the oil from the surface. anybody have any suggestions on how to get rid of the oil??

luckily i have no fish now and it is a tiny amount of oil anyway.

just create more surface agitation. itll disapear

it will probably be ok but you could take a glass and just dip a tiny portion of the glass into the water. that will take only the water from the surface out.

^ Wait can you please explain that how to use the Hair / Feathers trick.. since its something i've never heard about before, and i from time to time get a thin film on my smaller tank so might be some useful info...

Use something like a panyhose, or something that can hold hair or feathers because that floating around in your tank could ruin a filter motor.
This video is kind of stupid but it shows the effectiveness of hair. Plus i hope you dont have an in. layer of crude oil haha. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXSaEBespgs&feature=related
-Feathers work the same way. Old pillows work great.
