Filstar XP3 canister filter

On my 125g, I have (2) filstar xp3's canister filters. One of them after cleaning it, I can't get it work. I filled the tubes up with water, turn it on, it runs for about 10 seconds but then it stops pumping the water through the canister. I have used these filters for years but this has me stumped. It is only 1 year old. The magnet is not cracked. Any suggestions?

Did you prime it by pouring some water through a funnel through that opening on the intake?

Call them. They will help you. A long time ago I had an issue with one and the rep sent me orings. The end result was a new motor and I never paid for shipping or parts, all free. Great service (the filter was over a year old btw).

might need a new imprellor, mine went after a few years ordered a new on from Kens and it solved the problem

Did you check the impeller channel for debris (e.g. sand)?

The impeller is fine, I filled the tubes with the funnel, guess I need to call them. I have been using these canisters for years. I have 2 on each of my tanks, 125 & 150g.

Might sound weird but if it's accessible enough to lift it and tilt it a bit it could help. Give it a shake so to speak.

Can you hear the pump trying to work at all after it stops?

Hmm... Does the water level drop inside the canister?

You may be pulling air in somewhere. Try tightening the priming cap really well. That's where I find most issues arise.

yes it does, a couple inches
