filstar xp3 venturi kit?

hey everyone I couldn't figure out why I had a spot to attach air hose to my spray bar on my xp3 but I just did there is a venturi kit for this filter. Why didn't mine come with it? and do I need it. I pull that cap off of the flow regulator but water gushes out of it. Is there a check valve in the kit or what? If I hook an air pump to it will it over power the air pump? I would like to add more O2 to my tank at least now I know it's possible.. help me out here xp3 owners
 
I've go some extra parts for them...can you post a pic of the part you are wondering about and I'll tell you how mine is.
