Canada eh?
OK so today i decided to change my filter bag in my filter. It was the first time I ever did it and this tank has been running on that same bag for almost a year now.

When i checked my water 6-7 hours after changing the bag and doing a 40% water change, and it seems that the filter is not filtering properly :(
Pls don't tell me i have to let it cycle again, I don't want to loose all my fish

What kind of filter

Tetra Whisper 10-30 gal..

What do you mean by not working properly?

as long as you didnt rinse youre filter out and replace any gravel you should be fine. i swap my HOB filter pads about once a month hopefully that filter can handle youre bio load.

filter bag? is that a filter cartridge? as long as you changed only the cartridge and not the floss then you'll be fine

Well said you didnt change the black bio sponge did you. (if it has one i think that filter does.)

K to be more clear i meant the cartage, what i did exactly was i changed the cartage with a new 1, and i ran the removable mesh thingy beside the cartage under water to clear off all the brown gunk. i also did a 40 % water change.

I did not change the gravel, but i did vacuum it. the Filter itself was not run under water or cleaned, it didn't get unplugged or leave the tank at all.

My water test says its 0.25, (not that bad but mind u i did a 40% water change so im worried it can only get worse)

Did you wash the cartage in sink water or water from you tank? If that is the case then I would watch out for Ammonia spike, talking from experience I washed all my Media (cartage) In sink water instead of my tank water and all the BB was lost and due to that I had major Ammonia spike. Luckily my fish made it and all is back to normal now.

and also did u rinse the new catridge off to remove carbon dust that can cloud ur water. it sounds like you will be fine though.
