im just wondering if any has any experience in using cleaner shrimp exspecially filter cleaners in community tanks. I have a small community tank thats well planted and was thinking about ordering a couple cleaner shrimp off line to enhance the look and clean the tank a little and was wondering if any1 has tried them before and how did they work for them. the species im looking at atm are

Red Cherry Shrimp and
African Giant Filter Shrimp

I dont think a cherry shrimp is what you would call a "filter cleaner shrimp" but they do look nice in community tanks, provided you give them some cover (java moss works very well).

i keep shrimp in my 30g.. they do a great job of cleaning up the place (when i remember they are there.. they like to hide in my floating plants which i have a nasty habbit of shaking off outside to get rid or snails... i lose so many shrimp this way)...

i had a bamboo shrimp that would eat pleco poop... he was wonderful till my pleco ate him...

hmm.... now that i think about it.. i dont have much luck with shrimp... but they are good lil cleaners and they breed every few weeks..

I have a bunch or ghost shrimp (not sure exactly how many because the keep making little shrimp). When I first put them in they went straight to work. No sooner than I had put the plastic bag that they came in down and looked in did I see them working away eating little bits of stuff. Though you do need to be careful when you vacuum. It's very easy to vacuum the little buggers up.
