Filter cleaning

Didnt empty the water out of my canister fiter. I rinsed the pads, placed new actived carbon, turnes it on and all the dirty water got thrown back in. Need to know if I should be concerned.

You're going to have to do a water change and possibly a vacuuming. Why didn't you dump the crap out of the canister?

Not sure you should be concerned, but as suggested a water change/gravel vac would be wise.

Next time chuck the old water.

Nah, since that stuff was in your filter to begin with, it technically was/is living in your tank. Its just made your tank a bit messy but no worse for the matter. Just vacuum it up

Only means you have to clean filter sooner than later.

I dump mine out and and rinse everything in a bucket with water from the tank. When I put everything back into the filter I fill it back up with clean tank water before starting back up and then just top off the tank.
