hi how often do you clean your external filters i hace two on a 6ft tank i have 2 24inch silver arrows a 24inch gourami a 24inch pacu and a 20 inch giaraffe cat fish

i clean it every 2 weeks and i alternate between the other filters i have on the tank.
Cleaning the mechanical media shouldnt be too detrimental to the "beneficial" bacteria as long as you use aquarium water to clean it. The bio balls and other bio media i only clean when its really dirty, which shouldnt happen too often.
