filter feeders

i'm looking for some tank safe filter feeders. i've tried snails, shrimp and plants but the fish eat them. i need something that can handle 8.2 pH and african cichlids
 
all i can say is good luck with that i don't know any so i am not too much help

But the Atya will become cichlid food when it molts.

The only alkaline filter feeder I can think of, that will be safe with african cichlids, is the african arowana (Heterotis niloticus).
 
Maybe it's just dumb luck but I have an Atyopsis moluccensis (your average "bamboo shrimp") in my cichlid/bichir tank and nobody touches him. never had a problem during his moulting either. I know, crazy.
