hello i just bought my 100gallon tank (used) for 30 bucks in perfect condition with a penn plax filter from what i heard its garbage so what would be a good filter ? i was thinking about xp4 but give me your opinon please thx so much.

Well depends on the stocking if it's light stocking of smaller fish then yes that combo should work. As well as the emp 400s. If you are doing larger fish above 8" or so you should probably up your filtration. All in all the Eheim 2217 will cover both light stocking and large stocking although it may need a little help from a Emp 400 or ac110. How long is the tank? If its over 4 feet I recommend two filters just for the two seperate areas of the tank and also if one should fail you have a safety net to catch you until you get another filter.
I would go with one Rena xp3 and an AC 110, or a large sump.
