hey guy I have 7 feet by 2 feet by 2.5 feet aquarium
but I am going to fill up to 25-26 inches
so I will have 220 gallon water
I was thinking to get eheim 2217 with media (new model)
or should I get under garval filter
I am going to add garval in tank
so water will kind of reduce
what is your opinion ?

I hope you have or getting some other filter to go with the Eheim......

I don't know that the 2217 would be sufficient filtration for that size tank.

What fish do you plan on stocking the tank with?

yes I think I will go with another filter too
2217 is for 600 litres max
so I am planning to add another type filter too
which one will be good along side it
will under garvel filter do with 1200 l/h head
so I will have two filters with 1200L/h head

My tank is 200 gallon, which I use 1 eheim 2260 (old model), and 1 jacket up 2215 (so 620+ l/h).
If I were u, I'd go with two 2260, old model. Easy to clean and not that many loose parts.

Ruturaj, it would be helpful to have more details about what type and amount of fish you are going to keep in this tank.

Many people use dual canisters on their tanks. I am using an Eheim 2260 and 2262 + 2 Aquaclear 110 power filters on my 220G tank with Malawi Mbuna.

I'm not familiar with the parrots or Flowerhorn but the larger size plecos do generate a large amount of waste products due to their diet.

I have not used an under-gravel filter plate setup in years but it can be an effective biological filter if set up and maintained properly. Are you planning on using a pump or powerhead to operated the U.G. filter?

You could always just use the Eheim 2217 and the U.G. filtration to filter your tank at the beginning but you may need to consider adding an additional canister or maybe an overhead trickle or under tank sump filter to improve your water quality once the fish get larger.

if i were you, take a look a 2 or more canisters, preferably for the ease of use/maintance (well my opinion). id say get an FX5 or two, great filters. i have a 2217, FX5 and pennplax cascade 700 on my 125 SA cichlid tank and its great, though im changing the pennplax to an AC110 here soon. UGF's can work, but i just dont like them.
