I was thinking about using a fx5 but im not sure if it may be too powerful
and i was wondering what would be another great alternative
something thatll keep it really clean
maybe an eheim 2217?
and if i have the tank outside would a uv clarifier help cut down on algae?

I would recommend the 2217 and an AC-110 for that tank. The two filters come in a little under the cost of the FX5... and it's nice to have a little redundancy.

RE: UV's

I think the general consensus is that they are quite effective at cutting down on algae in the water (i.e. greenish water). You could attach a 9 or 18 watt turbo-twist to the output tube of the 2217.

resun cannister filter. has a built in UV. water is a lot more clear vs. my old filter set up. Another good thing is its cheap

ok so i was thinking about it
and came up with two options

option one:
2 eheim 2217

or

option two:
fluval fx5 and aquaclear 110

which setup would be cheaper and easier to maintain..
i hear the fx5 use up as much electric as the two 2217 combined
is this true
if so would setup one save me more money in the long run due to less power consumption

need your input still new to the canister filter world
