Hey guys! It's been a while. Nursing school killed my fish game, but now I'm back in full swing and have my RN credentials to boot! Anyway, living in Montana now!

So I bought a tank finally and plan to move some fish in soon. I bought a 54 gallon aqueon corner tank and like a good fish keeper, I bought one of the biggest filters I could find. Ran into a problem...

The lid won't close, thus the filter won't fit. Anyone have experience with this aquarium? Will I need to go to a canister filter? I want my fish to thrive, not just live. Anyway, I'm super excited, just not sure what to do and I've never had experience with a canister, so just kind of preferred hanging basket filters.

Thanks for still being here guys!

First, let me say congrats on finishing nursing school. My fiancé just finished that process herself and was more than ready for it to be over. Lol. Secondly, I have the same exact tank in my daughters room and I was running two Fluval Aquaclear 70's on each side and that was more than enough for the tank. Now I just have one big sponge filter in it because her fish had babies and she wanted to see the fry grow up. Hope this helps.

I have that exact tank!

I put an Eheim 2217 and a Fluval\Aquaclear 50 on mine. My tank came with a black plastic triangular piece in the rear "corner" which made things quite simple to modify

It houses one 10inch Flowerhorn by himself. I maintenance the Eheim(pre filtered) about once every 3-6 months(depending on flow), and the HOB every month. Weekly 50% water changes.
