I have a small tank full of baby fry from my pair of RD's. I dont have a filter set up on the tank right now. I basically do a small water change almost everyday to pull the crap off the bottom of the tank. I was wondering what people use to filter their fry tanks. Im looking for something that I can go buy quickly from a LFS.

basicly any filter will do, just use nylon knee highs and a zip tie over the intake...

i would go with the sponge filters, that way the fry's don't get sucked into the regular intakes.... the sponge filter has a very subtle suction action... therefore your fry will be safe. GL on the Fry's!

thanks for the help...for tonight, I hooked up a whisper power filter and put some pantyhose over the intake...Im gonna head to the LFS tomorrow and see about a sponge filter....

I use an air powered sponge in addition to a Rio 50 powerhead (AC 20 sponge slipped over intake) and outlet aimed at surface.

sponge filters are your friend with fry. With my fry I use a couple sponge filters and some snails to keep things on the up and up. The snails eat the uneaten food and the sponge filters take care of the rest. I also find that the fry like to peck things off the sponge filters. I do not like to put anything powered on my fry tanks because of too much current on their tiny little bodies.
