Filter & heater for a 120g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
filtration would depend on ur stock. on my 120 i have, a FX5, Eheim 2028 pro 2 and a 1200GPH powerhead. - im not saying u need this much.

temperature would depend on the rooms ambient temperature. on my 120 i have a 300 watt inline heater.

the bottom line is, u need to provide, much, much, much, more detail in order to get a better response.

IMO, it depends on your stock and budget. Filtration will cost more than a heater.

Tight budget and with ease, 2x aquaclear 110. - good filtration

FX5 or an Eheim would be a good choice too but will be the most expensive. - better

DIY wet dry also a nice option but will take some work but very cost effective. - best filtration

Heater- 2X aqueon 300w heater sells for $40 + shipping off amazon.com.

My 120 will have 2 cascade 1500. These were purchased on-line one for $115 the other for $130. Good budget filters but do not include enough media. I will also run 2 Hydor 300 watt in line heaters apx $40 each. So my set up is around $325 + some additional media.

This is way over filtered and plenty of heater back up included.

On a tighter budget I would have went with the Aquaclear 110 x2 and some in tank heaters but I thought I still ended up with a nice budget set up.
