Fellow MFKers,

Im getting a 75g tank this week because I want to get an oscar for it I was wondering what kind of filter I should get and other equipment to use for my tank with the oscar I plan to get. and would it be better to just paint the bottum since they're so messy, and not using substrate?

fx5

comon anyone else have any recommendations for me? I no a bunch of people on here have oscars lol

FX5, an overkill for a 75g, but anything to do with oscar I'll go overkill

I think an FX5 would be overkill on a 75 gallon tank with one Oscar. For the price of one FX5 you could buy two eheim 2217 filters that will give you plenty of filtration, will give you redundancy, and will likely last more than a decade. If you wanted added mechanical filtration you could add an AC 110 instead of the second 2217.

i dont care about price, I just want to know what the best filter to make sure my tank stays clean and that the filter can suck up all that leftover crap

I'm a big believer in redundancy so I would rather get two filters rather than one massive filter so that if one fails you're not up the creek. But if price is no object (wish I had that problem lol) then why not get an eheim pro 3 2080 or an eheim 2262 or Fluval G series.

lol Im 17 and I work, I dont have any bills to pay except insurance and I have to pay for my gas other than that I spend my money on what ever. I get payed every friday and Im not planning to set the tank up when I get it because my parents wont let me so I have time to put money back to get a filter. I just want the best stuff I can get to make sure my oscar stays healthy
