I just broke the motor head on my Fluval 305 canister filter. I think I can super glue the piece of plastic I broke off back on... I was trying to pry the damn thing off so I can clean it, and the butter knife (I know, stupid) just snapped the motor head housing in one little piece, and it is right on the edge/seal. Does anybody think that if I super glued this plastic piece back on would work? If not, what should I do? I dont have enough money to buy a new filter, so I need some advice?

i wuld try to silicon it back on that is what i did when my rena broke only bad part is you have to waite at least 24 hours

305 ain't cuttin' it.
even though you don't have money for a filter, i'd go and get something better.
go into debt if you have to.

i just got an eheim pro 2 for $80, few months old.
sick deal!

It does a nice job, but id like to get one better... Do you know any HOB filters are good for a 60 gallon? And what filtration should I use for a 200 gallon tall tank?

altough greatly out of vogue at the moment i always recommend under-gravel filtration, plates and up-risers topped with a power head almost half of my eleven tanks have under-gravel as a basically redundant system. if one of the externals or internal canisters fail in the middle of the night or during a holiday the under gravel will take the load and keep the tank alive; for months if need be. i have ran the same tank for fifteen years with only under gravel and plants, never losing a fish to raised nitrate. the only tank (not in the first month) i have loss fish from was running two internals capable of run a tank each, but with no under-gravel filter. they also draw the waste into the gravel removing it from sight.

Yeah, I was going to try an undergravel filter, but I have heard that some people live by them, but also some swear them too.
