Hi,

I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank.

For filtration I have a fluval 405 and a Penguin Bio-wheel 330.

In my tank, I have 5 fantail goldfish, and 2 cory cats & 1 rubbernose pleco.

I want to know if my media setup is a good set up for my type of tank.

In my Fluval 405, I currently use the 4 foam blocks that come with the fluval 405, blue/white filter pad that I cut to fit in the 2 bottom trays, use the bio-max in the 2 top trays.

In my bio-wheel I just use the blue/white filter pad.

My tank stays pretty clean and all my fish seem to be happy and healthy.

Here is what I am considering changing the media to;

Fluval pre-filter media to use in the bottom tray, I will still and will use the blue/white filter pad in the middle trays, and use the bio max in upper tray (Instead of using the bio max in 2 trays will only use it in one tray)

In my Bio-wheel instead of just using blue/white filter pad I will use;

Fluval pre-filter media in the trays along with the bio max I removed from the extra tray in the Fluval 405.

Any suggestions or does this sound OK?

Thank You for any help!
