Filter Media Help! (Canister filter)

Hi there! so i made my own Canister filter and i wanted to know where i can get cheap Filter Media! I have some pot scrubbies, but i dont wanna just fill it with pot scrubbies. I was thinking maybe ceramic or any other canister filter media i can put in there!
Please dont name expensive ones....

Please name some or where i can find cheap filter media! If there are other replacements like pot scrubbies please name them too! Thanks!

There is nothing magic about media, it's just a place for bacteria to grow on. Pot scrubbies are fine, I use lava rock, as long as its not toxic to fish, its all good.

If you have a hydroponics store near you, go and ask them for "Monkey Balls". They are a terra-cotta fired clay media that is very porus and very cheap, like twenty bucks for like twenty pounds, and it looks like, well, monkey balls.

The proper term is LECA (lightweight expanded clay aggregate).
