Keeping hearing different opinions and time frames on when to replace filter media and just looking for a straight answer
Mechanical - I have heard everywhere from changing sponges monthly to never changing your sponges unless they begin to fall apart.
Biological - I always thought you never replaced this once the tank cycles(unless you get a fish wiping disease in your tank or such) but I have seen things that say 6 months
Chemical - I know this differs between what chemicals you are using. With active carbon(which is really all I use unless there are problems) I have heard anywhere from 1 to 3 months.
Just trying to get a good gauge on how often things need to be changed. We are setting up a new tank and I want to make sure we get on a good schedule and keep things running well.
