Hi,

I own an RO water filter for home drinking and ice and replace the filter tubes very 6 months. I am thinking reuse those media inside the tubes for my fish tank filter media . Does anyone have any ideal that will help and/or any benefits for my fish tank?

i have discus and they are very picky/sensitive. so i am trying way to low water hardness and ph if it's posibble because i have to replace those filter anyway for house drinking and ice. hopefully it helps something instead recycle in trash can.

yes it is RO system for household drinking water that i bought from costco. I curious if i can get any benefit from used of it instead throw them in trash (recycle) can.

You can use RO water in your tank for fish that prefer acidic/soft water... You want to mix it with some tap water though.

I know that but not my question

be careful with that. If you have to replace them for drinking water they may leach harmful concentrations of trapped minerals and bacteria into the water. I would hate to hear that your fish died for some unknown reasons. Especially Discus! Like you said they are sensitive fish!
