Hi,

I want to add some filter media to my wet/dry filter. I made special box amd now I want put some new media filter inside. What do you recomended for Arowana, any special ceramic rings or maybe some mechanical filtrations ? What will be better to have clear water ?

My filter and the box with many holes... :)

It looks as if your media would be submerged, I would go with some efhisubstrat. Since there will not be issues with flow I would get the cheaper of the two ehfisubstrats. The "pro" version cost twice as much.

OK, I can't use regular ehfidubstrat because in the box holes are too big. I bought ehfidubstrat pro but only 2l. and 5 ehfimech... I will mix it... I need for my box 7l :) Pro is too expensive, for 7l I will pay $150.

Thanks.

Throw some of this in..

Ehfimech will do nothing for you. It is not designed to grow beneficial bacteria, it is a mechanical pre filter. You can use filter bags to put the media in if it is too small.

Why not just use scrubbies?

Scrubbies are a great alternative to bio balls in a wet/dry trickle filter. In a submerged set up they have far less surface area then ehfistubstrat, Seachem's Matrix, Hagen's Biomax or the Azoo Bioglass.

Very interesting. I was always under the impression that they were also a good submerged media as well. Thanks for the info.

I agree!
you can put this stuff in filter bags...then it can be used anywhere......makes it easier to handle too.
