I was wondering if I should add just bio balls in my ac 110 or should I add something along with them also?

I would use biomax instead of balls, better product plus since you have a small space to work with you'll be be able to fill the filter better
Bio balls excel in a wet/dry setup, I have no personal experience with them, but word on the street is they don't work as well when submerged in water all the time, like on an AC110.
I would add the premade biomax bags, and maybe even a second sponge made for the AC110, because ACs do much better with mechanical filtration with two sponges. If you aren't concerned with mechanical filtration as much, double biomax bags works well, that is what I run on my AC50 for my 20 gallon.
