My wife is complaining that my filters are noisy during the night, is ok to put the filter on a timer, and have go off around 11pm, and go back on about 6am the next day.........Thx in advance.:nilly:

You really would want your filters to run 24hrs. By shutting them off, you could risk killing off your beneficial bacterial causing the tank to cycle.

I can hear my blasted noisy Marineland HOB's all over the house. But my AquaClears are silent. Maybe you can get a quieter filter.

What type/brand of filters? If bedtime is 11;00 just timer them to shut off for an hour OR

Go to sporting goods store and buy her some foam ear plugs

yeah dont shut off your filters harry, if they are loud, pick up a newer filter...and aquaclears are a great and quiet brand...which tank are you reffering to, the 55 gal? if so, an aquaclear 70gal filter would be a good fit...

A fluval 305 canister would work well on a 55 . The one I have on my 65 is real quiet.

Easy solution! First what size is your tank? If it is a 55gal just get a blanket and cover the tank at night. It will reduce sound and relax fish. Walah! With a bounus excellent for the fish. More work for you! :headbang2
