So last night I replaced the filter cartridge in my filter, and cleaned out the intake tube and stuff. now it's being louder than usual for some reason and I'm not sure why. I'm pretty sure I put it back together correctly. it's a Bio-Wheel Power Filter Penguin 150.

What substrate do you use? My old 350 used to get a little sand in the impeller and make a lot of noise.

Every hob I've ever used were noisy when new and right after major cleaning. After major cleaning they seem o quiet done after a week or two.

Make sure everything is lined up and seated properly. I've found that something the uptake tube isn't always pushed down all the way into it's seat. Make sure impeller/motor is properly seated as well. Sometimes I would miss a thread or it was a little cocked and it would rattle like hell.

I think it was the intake tube. it finally stopped making the noise after like a day. I couldn't push it down any farther. I put an object on top of it for a little while and it went away so I took it off and it was fine.
